Interpretation Australia: Unpacking Intangibility: Ways of Seeing, Feeling and Understanding Culture. An Australian experience.
to Renew Our Sense of Hope, and Learn From the Past
Modern “Australia” is only 250 years young. However, Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have been custodians of this land for millennia. Australia’s Aboriginal culture is an ancient one. It is the oldest living culture in the world today. So what are we doing in Australia to support the interpretation, inclusion and celebration of this culture? How does modern Australia speak with, and embrace such an ancient culture?
This webinar looks at the journey of cultural recognition and understanding that is currently revolutionising Australia, and unpacks the qualities that weave across an age-old culture and intersect with a new one. Areas such as cultural responsibilities when including intangible qualities, connections and interpretation of stories and places, the significance of sites, cultural sensitivity and impacts will be discussed.
