About this Course
The nationally recognized Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG) program is designed for anyone who wants to learn more about how to develop and lead interpretive programs. This course will introduce you to the history, definitions, and principles of interpretation. During the course, you will develop a program outline and deliver a 10-minute thematic presentation, all with the support of your instructor(s) and fellow participants. You will learn how to make your programs purposeful, enjoyable, relevant, organized, and thematic, and leave ready to facilitate meaningful experiences that inspire engagement with the world around us.

Course Schedule
This training course will meet on Tuesdays in January, February, and March There will be eight 3-hour sessions for course material followed by two 4-hour sessions for the CIG presentations.
Meeting dates and times are as follows:
- 9:00AM – 12:15 PM Central Daylight Time on the following 8 dates: January 7, 14 21, 28, and February 4, 11, 18, 27.
- The presentation days are March 4 and 11 from 9:00AM – 1:15PM CDT.
To combat “Zoom fatigue” there will be small breaks throughout each session when we transition from one topic or activity to the next or as needed. Students must attend all 32 hours of the classes synchronously to qualify for the certificate.
Registrants for the course should monitor their email for workshop related communications beginning one month before the workshop. Registrants who have not received any communication from the instructor within 3 weeks of the workshop should check their spam folders and/or contact the instructor. Providing a contact phone at the time of registration is highly recommended.

Special Terms and Cancellations
Courses may be canceled due to low enrollment. In the event that this course is canceled, NAI will contact you and you will receive a full refund.
If you need to cancel your registration, cancellations cannot be made by phone and must be emailed to [email protected]. Cancellations requested before December 31, 2024: will be subject to a $60 cancellation fee; after this date no refunds will be issued. If fees paid are less than $60, no refund will be issued.
