National Workshops.
The registration packet for the 2013 national workshop is complete, posted on the web site and we have begun getting in registrations. The proposals for concurrent sessions are out for review and the program chair will have the ratings back by May 10th. At that point she and I will determine which proposals will be accepted, send out notification letters, and assign meeting rooms and times. I received transportation bids for the workshop and contracted with one of the bidders. As the program became finalized, I revised the workshop budget to reflect the changes.
I have been working with the decorator to move the exhibit hall. We discovered on our February site visit that the location that looked good on paper would not have been the best in reality. Exhibitors have had input regarding several proposed changes to the exhibit hall this year.
Responses to the 2018 National Workshop RFP have been narrowed to the finalists: Indianapolis Marriott East, Wyndham Orlando Resort, Caribe Royale Orlando, Sheraton Kansas City at Crown Center and two properties in Springfield, Missouri. I have been invited on a Fam trip to Orlando in May and will see both the finalist properties in that city. If needed, I will set up further site visits to the other cities.
Building and Facilities.
Easy Seasons Lawn Care began their seasonal outdoor maintenance. I asked them to re-lay the stone walls in front of the building and put weed barrier cloth in the planters to help contain the nasty infestation of bindweed that plagues our planters each summer. I contracted with a company to power wash the deck, east side of the building, the awnings, and the deck furniture. I took the deck furniture cushion coverings to the cleaners. I replaced the battery in one of the exit alarms after our fire inspection.
Springtime in the Rockies always means shoveling snow and this year was no different. Our policy is the first one in shovels the walks and that would be me.
Commercial Members & Ad Sales.
I sent monthly renewals for commercial membership expirations. Scott and I are working on getting the online version of the Green Pages ready to post.
Regions & Sections.
In April I initiated several conference calls for regions, sections and workshops. I made arrangements for ZWPA and Region 5 to use my credit card number for recurring expenses.
Admin and Other Things.
I made arrangements for a block of rooms for the August board meeting in Fort Collins and sent travel queries to board members.
I attended the Colorado Wyoming Association of Museums conference as a vendor and talked to participants about NAI membership and talked to other vendors about reserving a booth at the Reno workshop.
